About Us

JR’s Pups-N-Stuff Inc. began with one goal in mind – to save animals from life threatening situations. That ideal has gotten us to where we are today. We’ve had quite a few happy endings and will continue to provide excellent homes to all future rescue animals. We do not discriminate. We do not rescue animals specifically because of their breed or age. We rescue animals that need us to save their lives. They may be at risk of euthanasia for many reasons. Primarily this is due to space limitations or health issues.

Our History

Hurricane Katrina sparked my passion for rescue in 2005. My daughter, living in New Orleans with her cat Jim Bob, evacuated during the storm, leaving him behind. We spent weeks searching for a way to retrieve him. Finally, a Colorado rescue group let us join a supply run. Thankfully, Jim Bob was okay. But dropping off donations changed everything.

A parking lot overflowing with scared, neglected animals brought the gravity of the situation crashing down.  I knew I had to act. I volunteered with a local rescue, fostering, transporting, and recruiting. It was rewarding, but the negativity weighed heavily. When the owner considered closing, I offered to take over, but she refused.  Pushed by volunteers, I decided to start my own rescue.  On May 27, 2007, JR’s Pups-N-Stuff made its first dog transport.

Who We Are

JR’s Pups-N-Stuff rescues animals from high-kill shelters, providing them with medical care, training, and loving foster homes until they find forever families. We also educate the public about responsible pet ownership. Our spacious dog runs offer indoor/outdoor access, play yards, and 5 acres of walking trails. This allows the dogs to get plenty of exercise, fresh air, and mental stimulation.

Our director is Jean R, with 30+ years in IT project management, I’m also a busy mom of 6 (and grandma of 4!). My passion for rescue extends beyond JR’s: I’m a certified dog trainer, using my knowledge to educate both my team and evaluate incoming dogs. And let’s not forget the amazing people I’ve met – they’re the heart and soul of JR’s!
