JR’s Pups-N-Stuff is a 501(c)3 Charitable Organization. We rescue animals from high-kill shelters, providing them with medical care, training, and loving foster homes until they find their furever families.  The rescue began with one goal in mind – to save animals from life-threatening situations. That ideal has gotten us to where we are today. We’ve had a lot of happy endings and will continue to provide excellent homes to all future rescue animals. We do not discriminate. We do not rescue animals specifically because of their breed or age. We rescue animals that need us to save their lives. They may be at risk of euthanasia for many reasons, including space limitations or health issues. We are not a first come, first serve rescue; we are best fit and truly believe that dogs choose their families.

Who Are WE?

JR’s Pups-N-Stuff is a 501(c)3 Charitable Organization. We rescue animals from high-kill shelters, providing them with medical care, training, and loving foster homes until they find their furever families. We are a foster-based organization and could not exist without our extensive volunteer community. With only a very small number of employees, JR’s functions through the dedication of others who volunteer to make sure applications are processed, medications are dispensed, fundraising events occur, and more. The numerous tasks that our volunteers do are essential to the rescue.

Our director is Jean, who has 30+ years in IT project management. She is also a busy mom of 6 (and grandma of 4!). Her passion for rescue and animals extends beyond JR’s. She is a certified dog trainer and uses her knowledge to educate her team and to evaluate incoming dogs.

OUR HISTORY

Hurricane Katrina sparked Jean’s passion for rescue in 2005. Her daughter, living in New Orleans with her cat Jim Bob, evacuated during the storm, unfortunately, leaving the cat behind. Weeks were spent searching for a way to retrieve him. Finally, a Colorado rescue group let them join a supply run. Thankfully, Jim Bob was okay, but dropping off donations changed everything.  A parking lot overflowing with scared, neglected animals brought the gravity of the situation crashing down, and Jean knew she had to act. She volunteered with a local rescue, fostering, transporting, and recruiting. She found it very rewarding, but the negativity weighed heavily. When the owner considered closing, Jean offered to take over but was refused.  Pushed by friends and volunteers, she decided to start her own rescue.  On May 27, 2007, JR’s Pups-N-Stuff made its first dog transport.
